One of the biggest friends’ “night out” crazes crossing the country is a “wine and paint” party. These parties come with a twist – of wine that is. That’s right. You can create a painting – usually of anything you want – or you can pick a theme subject and follow that – while sharing a bottle of wine and snacks with some friends.
And because there are many “Wine and Canvas”, or “Paint Party”, locations across the country, chances are good that there’s one near you for you and your friends to spend a night out. You can even go solo and make new friends! They’re handicap accessible as well, are open to adults of all ages, so everyone is welcome.
You reserve your date online, pay a fee, and you’ll get all the supplies you need (paint, easel, and canvas) to create a painting, and an apron to cover your clothes. And the paint is professional quality paint, not kids watery school paint, so whatever you create, it can make a lasting, treasured gift for a grandkid, a friend, or just to keep for yourself.
There’s an artist present at the events who can help you with lessons but if you’re already skilled in drawing, painting, you can always just jump right in on your own. The events are about 3 hours long and most people just socialize for the first 20-30 minutes or so, have a drink, snack, get acquainted, etc.
You have to bring your own wine and snacks (no crockpots or other cooking utensils allowed) but it’s a great way to spend a night with a friend, or a few friends. Even businesses are using “paint parties” for corporate employee get togethers. They also make great gift certificate ideas since the holiday gift giving season is coming up.
Paint parties are basically a party where you learn something and go home with a great little piece of art at the end of the night. There are some “paint parties” that allow children with adults (great fun to do with a grandchild) but the wine paints are usually adults only. So, get a friend, your spouse, your adult son/daughter, spend a little quality time together, fire up your brain cells by getting creative, and try something fun and different!
