If you’ve been thinking about taking a cruise lately, you might be wondering which the best cruises are out there for people in your adventurous age group. Well, Boomer Travel Specialist Julia Labes, in her blog, has put together a handful of what she feels will allow Boomers to get the most value and fun out of a cruise. Here they are:
1. Norwegian Cruise Lines. One thing Boomers appreciate is flexibility and not having to be tied into a regimented schedule – especially on vacation. Unlike many cruises that have fixed dining times, NCL has “freestyle dining” which gives cruisers the flexibility to eat at whatever hour they want. They also offer a wide range of menu choices as well.
2. Carnival Cruise Lines. Noted for their “fun ships”, Carnival has something called the “Serenity Adults Only Retreat” which is a kids-free zone and open only to those 21 or over. It includes casinos, nightclubs/discos with music to dance to, not hip-hop, or hard rock. Carnival also offers age 55+ discount cruises.
3. Royal Caribbean. Great onshore excursions for activity/adventure seeking Boomers interested in everything from para sailing to horseback riding rather than on deck bingo and card games. Offer more off the beaten travel path cruises to Alaska, Australia, Canada and New England. Offers age 55+ discounts.
4. Celebrity Cruises. Boomers tend to like the finer things at their age and enjoy wine tasting, art gallery gazing, jazz and other small concert venue events on board. In addition, they offer specialized buffet dining – like chocolate or other specialized themes. In short, their cruises offer many ways for Boomers to do what they like to do best – try new things. Offers age 55+ discounts as well.
